Terms of Use - Zip&Rar

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Zip&Rar ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Zip&Rar opens and extracts archive files on your iPhone and iPad — ZIP, RAR, 7z, TAR, GZ, BZ2, XZ and other common formats, including archives protected by a password. It also creates ZIP archives from your files, photos, and videos, optionally protected by a password of your choosing.

The App integrates with iOS: it appears in the Files app as its own location, accepts files sent from other apps through the share sheet, and can open archives brought in from cloud storage through the standard file picker. It can display a chat exported from WhatsApp as a conversation, and play audio and video contained in your archives.

3. Your Files

You retain all rights to the files you open, create, and store with the App. You are solely responsible for the content you handle with it, including ensuring that you have the right to open, extract, and share it.

The App processes files locally on your device. It does not upload them, and we have no access to them.

4. Passwords

When you protect an archive with a password, that password is applied by the App and is not stored anywhere. If you lose it, the archive cannot be recovered — not by you, and not by us. Keep a copy of any password you rely on.

5. Free and Pro Versions

The free version opens and extracts archives in all supported formats, browses their contents, and shares the files inside them. It includes a single in-app file preview; opening further files inside the App requires the Pro upgrade.

Zip&Rar Pro is a one-time in-app purchase that unlocks password protection for archives you create, Face ID / Touch ID locking of individual files, photo compression quality options, and unlimited in-app file preview. It is not a subscription and does not renew.

Pricing, availability, and the exact contents of the Pro tier may change in future versions. Purchases are processed by Apple and are subject to Apple's terms; refunds are handled by Apple.

6. Automatic Cleanup

Files extracted from an archive are placed in temporary storage and are removed automatically after the period selected in Settings, which is 30 days unless you change it. This is intended to keep the App from filling your device.

Keep your own copy of anything you need to retain, and move extracted files you want to keep into the Files app or another location. We are not responsible for files removed by a cleanup setting you chose.

7. Acceptable Use

You may not use the App to open, store, or distribute content you are not entitled to, or to circumvent protection on content that is not yours. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the App.

8. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, code, and branding, is the property of Definitely Human.

The App includes third-party open-source components, each used under its own licence — among them SSZipArchive, UnrarKit, SWCompression, and VLCKit for media playback. Their licences remain with their respective authors.

9. Limitations of Liability

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Archives can be damaged, incomplete, or created by tools that behave in unexpected ways, and extraction may not always succeed. Definitely Human shall not be liable for any damages arising from the use or inability to use the App, including loss of data or files. Keep backups of anything important.

10. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last revised. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
